Man Arrested After E-Bike Crash Leaves Rider Seriously Injured In East Cowes

A man has been arrested following an e-bike collision in East Cowes that left one person with serious injuries.


Police were called to Beatrice Avenue at 10:34pm on Monday (20th July) after reports of a collision involving an e-bike.


A 22-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. A second man sustained minor injuries.


A 20-year-old man from East Cowes has since been arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle while unfit through drugs, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.


He remains in police custody while enquiries continue.


A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said:

"Officers were called at 10.34pm on Monday, July 20 following a collision on Beatrice Avenue, East Cowes involving an ebike.
"A 22-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. A second man suffered minor injuries.
"A 20-year-old man from East Cowes has been arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.
"He is currently in police custody."
