A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and dangerous driving after a car crashed and caught fire on the Isle of Wight's Military Road late on Sunday evening (July 26).
Emergency services were called to the B3399 at Hunny Hill, near Brighstone, at around 10.10pm following reports of a single-vehicle collision.
A silver BMW had crashed before becoming engulfed in flames, with firefighters from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary attending the incident.
The blaze led to the temporary closure of the B3399 between Brighstone and Mottistone while emergency crews extinguished the fire and made the scene safe.

He remains in police custody as police enquiries continue.
