Man Arrested After Alleged Bus Incident In Ventnor

A 38-year-old man is in police custody following an alleged sexual assault on a bus travelling to Ventnor.

The incident happened on Tuesday evening on a Route 3 service, which was stopped on Newport Road in Upper Ventnor shortly before 9pm after a disturbance was reported on board.

Police were called after it was alleged a 17-year-old boy was touched on the leg by another passenger.

Officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary attended the scene and carried out initial enquiries.

A 38-year-old man from Sandown has since been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and making threats to kill.

He remains in police custody while enquiries continue.
