The Isle of Wight Round Table’s annual Sleigh Runs, supported by WightFibre, have raised £5,134 for two Island charities.
Round Table volunteers accompanied Santa through 14 towns and villages across the Island, also visiting Vecta House Care Home, The Way Forward Project and taking part in the Newport Christmas Carnival. Santa also made stops at venues in Cowes and Newport, spreading festive cheer along the way.
Half of the money raised has been donated to The Daisy Ring Bus, which provides transport for Island patients travelling to Southampton and Portsmouth hospitals.
The remaining funds have gone to Daisychains IW, a charity supporting Island children and their families.
Round Table Chairman Mike Blake thanked WightFibre and the public for their support, saying the partnership helped raise a fantastic sum while putting smiles on children’s faces.
WightFibre’s Marketing Director Deon Redpath said the company was pleased to support such worthwhile causes.
Representatives from both charities also expressed their thanks to everyone involved in the event.
