After more than 35 years as the Island’s number one commercial radio station, Isle of Wight Radio is ready to turn back the clock.

This April, the station will launch its brand-new sister station, Isle of Wight Radio Retro — bringing a nostalgic soundtrack and the unmistakable charm of classic local radio back to the Island’s airwaves.

Broadcasting on the Island’s new Small Scale DAB multiplex, Isle of Wight Radio Retro will officially go live in April.

Listeners can expect the feel of rediscovering an old favourite, with brilliant hits from the 70s, 80s, and 90s, alongside the warmth, humour, and personality that made local radio so memorable.

From jingles to presentation style, every detail is designed to evoke fond memories.

The launch also marks an exciting step forward for local broadcasting, as Isle of Wight Radio joins the Island’s new Small Scale DAB rollout, giving listeners more choice and improved digital access.

Claire John, Managing Director of Isle of Wight Radio, said:

“We’re absolutely delighted to be helping bring small scale DAB radio to the Isle of Wight.
"As well as being able to listen to our main station on DAB, Retro will offer something a little different — a fresh but familiar sound for the Island.”

With timeless hits, big personalities, and the trusted heritage of Isle of Wight Radio behind it, Isle of Wight Radio Retro is set to become a must-listen for anyone who loves great music and great radio.
