Isle Of Wight Radio's Paul Topping To Take On 55-Foot Mast Climb For Charity

Isle of Wight Radio Breakfast Show host Paul Topping will swap the studio for the rigging later today (Monday) as he takes on a 55-foot mast climb to raise money for the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust.

Paul will be joined by Isle of Wight West MP Richard Quigley for the challenge, which will see them climb the mast of Solent Hero at around 4.30pm.

The Mast Climb Challenge is one of the charity's Cowes Week fundraising events.

Once participants reach the top of the mast, they have 10 minutes to call friends and family in a bid to raise at least £200.

A friendly leaderboard will run throughout the week to see who can raise the most money.

The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust is also running a scavenger hunt around Cowes, with clues hidden in the windows of local businesses.

Participants can collect a clue card from the charity's stand on The Parade before searching for letters to unscramble the final answer.

Visitors can also meet the Trust's team, learn more about its work supporting young people through and beyond cancer, buy merchandise and take part in games at its Race Village stand on The Parade.

The stand is open daily from 10am until 5.30pm until Saturday 8 August.
