A local fundraiser aiming to raise £25,000 for Wessex Cancer Support has already hit the £5,000 milestone.

Deon Redpath has given thanks to 170 generous donors — and a match funding boost from WightFibre that added an extra £2,500.

The charity provides vital support for people living with cancer on the Isle of Wight.

The fundraiser is part of a campaign by Deon, who is preparing to take on the 2026 London Marathon.

He's already clocked over 500 kilometres of training in the lead-up to the race.

Support has also come from a range of Island businesses, including:

  • The Price is Wight

  • Lakeside Park Hotel

  • ICR Touch

  • Brightbulb

  • HTP Apprenticeship College

Organisers are encouraging everyone to get involved, saying that every donation, big or small, helps bring the £25,000 target closer.

Donations can be made via the fundraising page here.
