Isle Of Wight College Announces New Principal And CEO

The Isle of Wight College has confirmed the appointment of Fidelma Washington as its new Principal and Chief Executive Officer.


Fidelma, who is currently the College’s Deputy Principal and Deputy CEO, will take over from Ros Parker, following a managed handover period.


Her appointment follows a rigorous selection process and represents an important milestone for the College, ensuring strong, experienced leadership for the future.


Having dedicated 21 years of service to the Isle of Wight College, Fidelma has held several senior roles and played a key part in the College’s growth, strategic direction, and continued support for the Island’s community and economy.


Speaking about her new role, Fidelma said:

“I’m honoured to become Principal and CEO.
"After 21 years at the College, I remain committed to maintaining high standards, supporting our students, and continuing to deliver the skills and training that benefit the Island’s economy.”

Outgoing Principal Ros Parker praised the appointment, saying:

“Fidelma’s appointment presents a wonderful opportunity for the College.
"Her dedication and deep understanding of the Island’s needs will guide the College into its next successful chapter.”

Sara Weech, Chair of the Governing Body, added:

“Fidelma’s long service and proven leadership ensure a smooth transition.
"The Governors are delighted to appoint such an experienced leader from within our team to support the College’s continued growth.”

The Isle of Wight College is the Island’s only general Further Education (FE) college, offering a wide range of vocational courses, apprenticeships, T Levels, and higher education qualifications through its University Centre Isle of Wight.


Working closely with local employers, the College remains committed to developing the skills and training that meet the needs of the Island’s community and economy.
