Island Students Make History At National Young Enterprise Final

A team of Isle of Wight sixth form students has achieved the highest level of success ever recorded by an Island school in the prestigious Young Enterprise competition.

Students from The Island VI Form travelled to Cardiff earlier this month after winning the Isle of Wight, Hampshire and South East regional rounds of the Young Enterprise Best Company Competition.

Their business, Boundless Wight, impressed judges with its flagship product, Walk The Wight: The Board Game, securing a place in the national final alongside just 11 other teams from more than 1,000 student companies across the UK.

As part of the competition, the students submitted a business report, took part in interviews with judges and completed a series of business challenges.

The team's achievements were particularly notable as they generated the highest income of any company competing in the national final.

Student Sophie was also recognised individually, receiving a prestigious "You're Hired" medal during an Apprentice-style challenge.

At the awards ceremony, Boundless Wight was presented with the Delta Air Lines Pursuit of Opportunity Award by the head judge, marking the most successful Young Enterprise campaign ever undertaken by an Isle of Wight school.

Phil Pearce-Jones said the students had demonstrated outstanding entrepreneurship, teamwork and resilience throughout the competition and had been exceptional ambassadors for both the college and the Isle of Wight.

The team's journey is set to continue, with preparations now underway for the official launch of Walk The Wight: The Board Game and the fulfilment of a large number of pre-orders secured during the competition.

A public launch event is due to take place at The Island VI Form on 17 June.
