Island Roads Withdraws Objection To Niton Homes

Island Roads has withdrawn its objection to a greenfield homes scheme on the outskirts of an Isle of Wight village.

The highways service provider previously warned the interests of road safety are ‘compromised’ in response to Mrs and Mr Willis’s custom build proposal for a bungalow and two chalet-style houses at Ladyacre Farm in Niton.

Its prior objection said the proposal does not provide adequate facilities to enable vehicles to enter and leave all proposed parking parking spaces, and a refuse vehicle to leave the site, in a “satisfactory and safe” manner.

TF Property Solutions’ Planning Statement said the proposed homes would have two to three bedrooms. Submitted plans include a shared driveway and vehicle access from Pan Lane as well as two parking spaces per dwelling.

Island Roads’s latest representation said it has no objection subject to highway safety conditions being imposed.

These relate respectively to visibility sight lines, drainage and steps to prevent material being deposited on the highway due to any on-site operations.

TF Property Solutions previously said the scheme aligns with national and local planning policy, maintains the rural character of the area and protects neighbouring amenity.

The Isle of Wight Council’s public consultation on application 26/00729/OUT runs until October 2 and a decision is scheduled for October 27.
