Staff at Island Roads have raised £688 for local charity Wight Brainy Bunch through a year of fundraising activities.
The money was collected over the past 12 months through office sweepstakes, quizzes and internal fundraising events organised by staff at the highways PFI company.
Each year, Island Roads employees choose a charity to support, with this year’s fundraising efforts going towards helping those affected by brain tumours across the Island.
The cheque was presented to Wight Brainy Bunch founder Kathryn Grimes by Island Roads fundraising committee members India Dale and Sarah Ledger.
Kathryn said the donation will help fund a range of vital support services, including counselling therapy and assistance with travel to mainland hospitals for treatment.
She added that the charity relies heavily on local support and said the donation was “really appreciated”.
In just over a decade, Wight Brainy Bunch has raised more than £750,000 to support Island residents affected by brain tumours.
Island Roads staff member India Dale said it was a privilege to support a local charity making such a significant impact, adding that many colleagues have personal connections to people affected by the condition.
She said staff were keen to support smaller charities where their fundraising could make a meaningful difference.
This year, Island Roads staff have chosen Friends of the Animals as their nominated charity for future fundraising.
