Two Islanders are set to embark on the adventure of a lifetime — a 240km husky-sled trek across the frozen wilderness of Swedish Lapland — all to raise funds for Mountbatten Isle of Wight.
Maria Sexton and Charlotte Revert will take on the Lapland Husky Trail in March 2026, travelling through remote, untouched landscapes before finishing their challenge with a night at the world-famous Ice Hotel.
Their journey begins in Kiruna, where they’ll meet their sled team of huskies and gather the equipment needed for the five-day expedition.
Maria says supporting Mountbatten is deeply personal:
Her father receives care from the hospice when needed, and she says raising as much money as possible “would mean the absolute world.”
All funds raised will go directly to Mountbatten, helping the charity continue supporting Islanders affected by death, dying and bereavement.
The pair are urging the community to get behind them by donating or sharing their page.
As part of their efforts, they’ve also secured £100 Apex Site Credit for a raffle, and will be hosting regular sales at Betterdays Café most Sundays, along with quizzes and additional fundraising events.
Maria added:
“We’re desperate to raise a good amount for the hospice, and for Betterdays Café for supporting us.
"Thank you to anyone who can help us reach our target.”
