An Isle of Wight high street could get three new one-bedroom apartments.

Allen Planning has lodged a prior approval application with County Hall for a change of use of the lower ground and first floors of 25 – 27 High Street in Shanklin.

They currently have a commercial, business and service use.

Ground floor commercial units at the site, including The Copper Kettle and the Shanklin Health Store, would ‘remain unchanged’, according to a letter from Allen Planning to the council.

Two proposed first floor flats have kitchens, lounge/diner spaces and bathrooms while the third, which would be on the lower ground floor, has a bedroom, kitchenette, bathroom and storage room.

The council’s public consultation on application 25/01100/3MAPA finishes on September 8 and a decision is due on September 30.
