Island Businesses Unite To Run The 2026 London Marathon In Support Of Wessex Cancer Support

Isle of Wight businesses are joining forces in an inspiring effort to raise vital funds for Wessex Cancer Support by taking on the iconic 2026 London Marathon.
Sophie Jackson and Zia Brook from WRS, along with Deon Redpath from WightFibre, will be hitting the streets of London alongside fellow runners Chloe Parkes and Paul Thorley – with Paul taking on his third London Marathon.
Together, the team is committed to raising as much money as possible for Wessex Cancer Support, a charity that provides essential services to families across the Isle of Wight and Hampshire.
For most runners, the London Marathon represents a once-in-a-lifetime bucket-list challenge. Sophie, however, returns for a second year after helping the team raise an impressive £50,000 for the charity in 2025.
Sophie said:
“Seeing how much Wessex Cancer Support does to support the community is truly inspiring, and I am proud to be part of a team that can continue making a difference for those who need it most. Let’s go team 2026!”
Deon said:
“Running a marathon is not something I ever thought I would ever get round to doing, especially not the London Marathon, so being able to do that and raise some money for Wessex Cancer Support in the process is a win-win for me.”
Wessex Cancer Support plays a crucial role in providing free emotional, practical, and wellbeing support to individuals and families affected by cancer.
Funds raised from this initiative will go directly towards ensuring these services continue to reach those who need them most.
The team is calling on the local community and businesses to support their efforts and help them exceed their fundraising goal.
