Ice Cream Treat Brings Summer Smiles To Orchard House Residents

Residents at Orchard House Care Home in Newport have been treated to a visit from a local ice cream van, with the sunny afternoon bringing back fond memories of summers gone by.

With warm weather continuing across the Isle of Wight, residents spent time outdoors choosing their favourite ice creams while enjoying the sunshine with fellow residents, staff and visiting relatives.

For many, the visit prompted nostalgic conversations about childhood, family holidays and seaside trips.

Katie Schlepp, Head of Lifestyle at Orchard House, said:

"It was wonderful to see so many smiles. Something as simple as an ice cream can bring back precious memories and create new ones at the same time.

"Our residents loved choosing their favourite flavours, spending time outdoors and simply enjoying the sunshine together.

"These are often the moments that mean the most."

The event was organised as part of the care home's Life Enrichment programme, which aims to create enjoyable and meaningful experiences that support residents' wellbeing, encourage social interaction and help them continue taking part in activities they enjoy.

Residents rounded off the afternoon by relaxing in the garden, sharing stories and making the most of a classic British summertime tradition.
