Hundreds Without Water After Two Mains Burst In Wootton

Hundreds of homes and businesses in Wootton are without water this morning after two separate water mains burst at either side of the village.
The incidents happened during the early hours of Wednesday, leaving residents without a supply when they woke.
Southern Water has engineers working at both locations — Eleanor's Grove, near Fishbourne, and Lushington Hill.
At this stage, there is no confirmed timescale for supplies to be fully restored.
School unable to open
The disruption has also affected Wootton Primary School.
Parents have been told the school is unable to open this morning because of the water supply problems.
The situation is due to be reassessed between now and 10am.
Traffic disruption expected
The two bursts are also causing disruption on the main Newport to Ryde route.
Temporary traffic lights have been installed at both Eleanor's Grove and Lushington Hill while engineers deal with the problems.
Drivers are being advised to allow additional time for their journeys, with delays expected during the day.
Southern Water is continuing to work on restoring supplies to the affected properties.
