A historic farm barn in East Wight could be transformed into a two-bedroom house, under plans submitted for Duxmore Farm, located east of Robin Hill Country Park.

The timber structure, dating from the 18th century, was altered during the 19th and 20th centuries and is now no longer suitable for agricultural storage.

Planning documents say the conversion would preserve the barn’s original shape and character while providing modern accommodation across two floors.

On the ground floor, the proposed layout includes an entrance hall, boot room/utility area, WC, office, a bedroom with ensuite, a master bedroom with ensuite and French doors, and a central snug opening onto a patio.

The first floor is designed as an open-plan space, combining kitchen, dining, and lounge areas, with French doors opening onto a balcony.

The Isle of Wight Council’s public consultation on the proposal closes on 15 January, with a decision expected on 5 February.
