The newly formed Godshill Guisers are set to spread festive cheer with performances of a traditional Christmas Mummers play in the village today (Saturday).
Rooted in medieval folk drama, Mummers plays typically feature a hero, a villain, and a comic doctor, all performed by enthusiastic community members rather than professionals.
The Godshill version, adapted by local resident Frankie Goldspink, runs for around 15 minutes and is suitable for families.
Seven volunteers from Godshill Matters are taking part, with rehearsals already underway.
Audiences can catch the Guisers at The Christmas Cracker on Saturday 6 December from 12:30 to 2:30pm, performing at various spots around the village.
Additional shows will take place in local pubs throughout December.
