Rising Isle of Wight artist Fugo Kid has been crowned the winner of this year’s Wight Noize competition, earning a coveted place on the main stage at the Isle of Wight Festival this summer.

The hotly contested final, held at Strings Bar & Venue, saw five talented acts take to the stage — Willowfly, Georgia Nicole, Ruby, Jay Eatwell and Fugo Kid — each delivering standout performances.

Organisers Platform One Music College praised the overall standard, describing it as an unforgettable night of live music.

However, it was Fugo Kid who ultimately stood out, impressing judges and the crowd alike with a distinctive fusion of hip hop and jazz, combined with deeply personal storytelling.

As a result of his win, Fugo Kid will now perform on the main stage at this year’s festival in June — a major milestone for the talented teenager.

Following his win, Fugo Kid said:

“It was absolutely (amazing) with some incredible people by my side on that stage, I definitely couldn't have done it without my band.
"Big props to all the other performers as well — they all did an amazing job.
"Being able to play the main stage means the world to me.
"Going from bedroom tunes to playing that stage is a surreal moment and I can't wait to get up there and show the Island what I can do!”

Newport-based Triple A Records also congratulated the winner, having hosted a warm-up performance in-store ahead of the final.

The independent record shop said it was a privilege to support Fugo Kid on his journey and looks forward to seeing him take to the festival stage.

It caps off a remarkable few days for the rising star, who was also named Isle of Wight Radio’s newest Emerging Artist earlier this week — further cementing his status as one to watch on the Island’s music scene.
