The Footprint Trust has described 2025 as a landmark year, after providing extensive support to households across the Isle of Wight to reduce energy costs and cut carbon emissions.
Over the past year, the charity directly supported 650 households, helping residents stay warm, lower their bills and reduce their environmental impact.
As part of its work, the Footprint Trust provided 217 essential white goods and distributed 280 fuel vouchers to help families heat their homes during colder months.
To reduce everyday cooking costs, hundreds of air fryers, microwaves and slow cookers were also supplied to households in need.
Education played a key role in the charity’s work, with its Heat Safe talks reaching 890 Island residents.
The sessions aimed to give people the confidence and knowledge to manage their energy use more effectively and take control of household bills.
For those requiring more tailored help, the Footprint Trust carried out home visits to 60 properties.
These interventions helped households achieve combined energy savings of around £375,000.
The charity says the energy-saving measures introduced during 2025 have led to a reduction of more than 550 tonnes of carbon emissions.
The Footprint Trust says the achievements highlight what can be accomplished when practical support, expert advice and community action come together, and adds that it is looking ahead to building on this work throughout 2026.
