Five Brilliant Brain Teasers For The Week (Treasure Hunt Puzzles)

Five mysterious maps, hidden clues and buried secrets. Can you find the treasure?

This week, we're swapping the detective's magnifying glass for a treasure map. Each puzzle contains a clue that should lead you one step closer to the prize.

There are two easier challenges, two medium puzzles and one fiendishly tricky treasure hunt to finish.

🧠 1) The Pirate's Map (Easy)

A pirate leaves a map showing three landmarks:

The Oak Tree → The Old Well → The Broken Statue

The instructions say:

"Begin where the birds sing, walk to where the water once flowed, then stop where the king has lost his head."

Where should the treasure hunter begin?

🧠 2) The Three Treasure Chests (Easy)

A pirate discovers three chests.

One contains gold. The other two are empty.

Each chest has a label:

🏴 Chest A: "The gold is in Chest B."

🏴 Chest B: "The gold is not in this chest."

🏴 Chest C: "The gold is not in Chest A."

The pirate knows exactly one label is telling the truth.

Which chest contains the gold?

An explorer discovers a map with four locations:

Palm Tree — Cave — Waterfall — Ruins

A note reads:

"The treasure is not beneath the palm tree.

It is closer to the waterfall than the ruins.

It is not inside the cave.

You must cross water to reach it."

Where is the treasure?

A pirate leaves this riddle beside a locked treasure chest:

"I have a face but no eyes.

I have hands but no arms.

I tell you when to seek the gold."

The explorer looks around and finds three objects:

A compass

A pocket watch

A statue

Which object contains the clue?

An old map contains five instructions:

1. Begin where the sun rises.

2. Walk 20 paces towards the place where the sun sets.

3. Turn towards the tallest tree.

4. Walk until you reach the sound of running water.

5. Dig beneath what has no roots but always stands.

The explorer follows the first four instructions perfectly.

At the river, however, there are three tall objects:

An old wooden signpost

A dead tree

A stone statue

The map's final instruction says:

"Dig beneath what has no roots but always stands."

The explorer chooses the statue.

But the treasure isn't there.

Where should they have dug?

The treasure hunter should begin at the oak tree.

The phrase:

A signpost has no roots, yet it is designed to stand upright.

The dead tree is a tempting answer because it has no living roots, while the statue is another deliberate distraction.
