Emergency services were called to the usually quiet village of Seaview yesterday evening (Tuesday) after a man was found collapsed in the street.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service received a 999 call shortly before 5.25pm reporting a life-threatening incident on Rope Walk.
Paramedics, including a critical care paramedic, were dispatched to the scene.
One fire appliance from Ryde was also mobilised to assist with providing immediate medical care.
Police attended due to the incident taking place in a public area, setting up a cordon at either end of the access road behind the Seaview Hotel while officers carried out initial enquiries.
The incident was brought to a close by around 6.30pm, with all emergency services standing down.
