East Cowes Carnival is making a long-awaited return this summer – three decades after it was last held in the town.

Thanks to the efforts of volunteers Mike Flanagan, Harley (Flag Carrier) and Michelle Vincent, and with £2,500 of funding from Red Funnel, the event is set to bring colour and community spirit back to East Cowes.

The parade will take place on Saturday 23 August, starting at 6.15pm from Victoria Grove.

It will follow a loop through the town centre before returning to the starting point.

Residents are being encouraged to line the route early to get the best views.

In the run-up to the event, Red Funnel welcomed five members of the carnival team and three Carnival Queens – Princess Emily, Junior Queen Hannah and Senior Queen Abby – aboard Red Osprey to help build excitement for the big day.

Lee Hudson, Red Funnel’s Commercial Director, said:

“Seeing the hard work and dedication of the East Cowes Carnival team is truly inspiring.
"The event clearly means so much to the community, and it’s a privilege for Red Funnel to support it.”

The ferry operator says supporting local events and initiatives is part of its ongoing ‘Changing Tides’ programme, which aims to make a positive impact in Island communities.
