Motorists are facing delays on the main road through East Cowes this morning (Wednesday) following a collision involving a motorbike and a car.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Kent Avenue and York Avenue at around 8.45am after reports of a road traffic collision.

Police and paramedics, including a Critical Care Paramedic from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, attended the scene.

A motorbike is understood to have collided with the side of a Suzuki car. Thankfully, no serious injuries are believed to have been sustained.

The rider has been treated in the back of an ambulance and is expected to be taken to St Mary's Hospital for further checks.

Both vehicles have since been moved to the side of the road.

York Avenue remains open under Police direction, although nearby electricity works outside Osborne House are adding to congestion in the area.

Drivers are being advised to avoid the area where possible while the incident is dealt with.
