A decision is due soon on plans to convert Chantry House into a 14-bedroom House in Multiple Occupation (HMO).
The Grade II listed building on Pyle Street, formerly used as offices, is the focus of an application from Zen Transformations.
The scheme proposes internal renovations to create shared living spaces, kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms, with no changes to the building’s exterior.
Two local residents have raised objections, citing concerns over increased traffic, noise, and potential impacts on the character of the area.
Michael Torreggiani, who lives nearby, said the HMO could disrupt the community by adding more households to an already busy street.
The building’s agent, V&L Architects, has stated the conversion would not harm neighbouring properties.
Public consultation on application 25/01840/LBC closed on February 20, and while a decision was initially expected on March 13, it is has been delayed.
