Cross-Solent services are suspended or facing disruption this morning (Tuesday) as heavy rain and gusty winds continue to batter the Isle of Wight.

Hovertravel has cancelled all timetabled hovercraft crossings between Ryde and Southsea due to the conditions.

Tickets would normally be accepted on Wightlink’s FastCat service between Ryde Pier Head and Portsmouth Harbour, however that service is also suspended because of the weather.

As a result, Hovertravel and FastCat passengers are being diverted to Wightlink’s Fishbourne–Portsmouth Gunwharf car ferry service.

Red Funnel is also experiencing disruption this morning, with the 6am vehicle ferry from Southampton and the 7.30am sailing from East Cowes both cancelled due to essential maintenance.

Passengers are being advised to check with operators before travelling and allow extra time for their journeys.
