Crash Causes Road Closures Near Bembridge


Minor injuries have been reported following a crash on the main road between Sandown and Bembridge.
Emergency services were called to Sandown Road, near Bembridge Airport, shortly before 2.45pm this afternoon (Wednesday).
Two vehicles – a black Peugeot 206cc and a blue Ford Transit – were involved, with the crash blocking the road.
Police have closed the B3395 in both directions between Yaverland roundabout and Bembridge Airport.
Fire crews from Ryde and Shanklin are at the scene, with at least one person needing to be freed from the wreckage.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has a critical care paramedic, ambulance crew and operational commander in attendance.
Southern Vectis says Route 8, Downs Breezer and Island Coaster services are being diverted via St Helens.
Drivers are being urged to avoid the area, with the road expected to remain closed for the next couple of hours.
