Concerns Raised Over Late-Night Disturbances In Nettlestone And Seaview

Concerns have been raised about late-night disturbances and anti-social behaviour in a coastal Isle of Wight community.

Island First Network representative Jules Hayward told Nettlestone and Seaview Parish Council on Tuesday (22 September) about a number of incidents reported over the summer.

She said residents had experienced repeated late-night doorbell ringing, which she described as "quite harassing", particularly for people living alone.

Ms Hayward also said eggs, fruit and vegetables had been thrown at properties on Rowantree Drive.

She told councillors there had also been disruption involving young people at The Haven.

She said she had spoken to the Jolly Fryer fish and chip van and was told staff had been forced to lock the vehicle's cab following what was described as threatening behaviour by young people.

Ms Hayward said the business had operated for more than 30 years and had not previously needed to take that precaution.

She has been gathering information, including CCTV footage, and has been in contact with PC Andrew Emery about the incidents.

She said the aim was to build a case and make clear that the behaviour was unacceptable.
