Police have secured a three-month closure order on a flat in Newport following ongoing drug-related anti-social behaviour.
The order was granted at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on Friday (19 December) after evidence was presented of criminal activity at a property in Angelica Grove.
Reports included excessive noise, fighting, verbal abuse, dog fouling and drug paraphernalia in communal areas, as well as people attending while under the influence of drink and drugs at all hours.
The closure order means no-one is permitted to enter or remain at the address, with police given the power to arrest anyone who does.
The action follows joint work between the West Wight Neighbourhood Policing Team and Sovereign Housing.
Sergeant Chantal Miller said the order would help protect neighbours and the wider community, adding that tackling drug-related harm and anti-social behaviour remains a local policing priority.
Residents are encouraged to continue reporting anti-social behaviour to police via 101 or online.
