Christmas officially got underway at Vecta House in Newport, as residents, families and local schoolchildren came together for the care home’s annual Christmas Lights Ceremony.
Young singers from Summerfields Primary School opened the event with carols around the tree, before resident Gordon handed out gifts to thank them for their performance.
The big switch-on followed, with Santa Claus making a special appearance to lead the countdown.
The exterior of Vecta House was then lit up for the season, drawing cheers from the crowd.
Guests later headed indoors for mince pies and mulled wine, while Santa toured the home to visit residents.
Tanya Everson, Lifestyle Leader at Vecta House, said the event is “a highlight of our calendar,” adding:
“Seeing the joy on the faces of our residents, especially as they celebrate with their families and the local community, is truly special.
"A massive thank you to the children of Summerfields Primary School and to Santa and Isle of Wight Round Table for making our switch-on unforgettable.”
