A road leading down to Shanklin seafront was closed after a car was left precariously dangling over a wall yesterday afternoon (Saturday).
The incident, involving a BMW 1 Series, happened on Hope Hill at just before 13:30, with the vehicle left dangerously close to falling onto the carriageway below.
Police and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene, closing the only road to the Esplanade in both directions as a precaution.
Firefighters from Shanklin worked to make the vehicle safe, with a cordon put in place to protect motorists and pedestrians.
Drivers already on the seafront were temporarily unable to leave while the incident was dealt with.
This is not the first time a vehicle has ended up in a similar position at the location, with emergency services having responded to a near-identical incident in recent years.
Cordons were lifted and Hope Hill reopened to traffic in both directions at around 14:30.
