Bullring Theatre Launches At Brading New Town Hall In Community Pilot

An exciting new community-led performance initiative is coming to Brading, as The Bullring Theatre launches at Brading New Town Hall as part of a 12-month pilot project.

The venture, led by Brading Town Council in partnership with Tide nor Time Players CIC, aims to bring live performances, creativity and fresh energy back into the heart of the town.

The project will make use of the hall’s historic stage, transforming it into a welcoming and inclusive space for a range of productions.

A key focus of the pilot is its commitment to young people.

A free youth theatre group for those aged 12 to 21 will play a central role in shaping the programme, with workshops in music, acting and performance skills set to be offered in a supportive environment.

Organisers are encouraging young people from across the Isle of Wight to get involved.

The Bullring Theatre will serve both the local community in Brading and the wider Island, providing opportunities for performers, writers and creatives to showcase their work.

Alongside a varied programme of performances, the initiative will also promote collaboration between local groups and support the development of original productions.

The project will operate on a reinvestment model, meaning all funds generated will be put back into the theatre and the continued upkeep and improvement of Brading New Town Hall.

Brading Town Councillor Paul Garratt said the initiative had long been requested by residents.

He said:

“We are so lucky to have the new town hall building in Brading. It’ll be fantastic to get it back to putting on presentations and performances, which has long been requested by the residents.

"We hope this will create new energy in our town.

“We had the privilege of watching rehearsals for an upcoming production last night and thoroughly enjoyed it.

"The Island creatives behind the project are extremely talented and I feel that their performances are likely to be very popular.”
