A road in Bonchurch has been closed this morning (Monday) after a car collided with a parked vehicle and ended up on its side.

Emergency services were called to Bonchurch Village Road just before 10:55am following reports of a collision involving a black Skoda Yeti and a parked Mercedes.

The Skoda is understood to have struck the rear quarter of the parked vehicle before overturning and coming to rest on its side.

An elderly female driver was helped from the vehicle by firefighters, who carefully assisted her out through the boot. Thankfully, no serious injuries have been reported.

Fire crews from Shanklin and Ryde attended the scene alongside paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, who assessed the driver at the roadside.

Police closed Bonchurch Village Road in both directions while recovery work was carried out to remove the overturned vehicle.

The incident caused disruption in the quiet residential area of Ventnor, with drivers being advised to avoid the area while emergency crews worked at the scene.
