A 29-year-old man from Bembridge has been charged with drink driving after police discovered an overturned car on a main road near Newport in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Officers on patrol at 4.42am came across a vehicle on its roof on Long Lane, between Newport and Downend.
Police confirmed no other vehicles were involved in the incident and no injuries were reported.
Following enquiries, officers identified the driver as Nathan Martin, 29, of Mariners Row in Bembridge, and suspected offences may have been committed.
A roadside breath test indicated a failure.
Martin was arrested and taken into custody, where he later provided a positive evidential reading.
He has been charged with drink driving and bailed to appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on 29 May 2026.
