Bembridge Fort Launches Summer Programme With New Events And Exclusive Tours

A historic Isle of Wight landmark is opening its doors this summer with a new programme of events, including relaxed evening socials and behind-the-scenes guided tours.

Bembridge Fort is introducing The Fortyard Sessions, a new series of summer evenings held every Tuesday throughout August, giving visitors the chance to enjoy food, drinks and music inside the Victorian fort.

Running from 5pm until 9pm, the events will turn the fort's historic courtyard into an outdoor social space, with freshly prepared food, a pop-up bar featuring local beers, ciders and spirits, chilled DJ sets and space to relax with friends and family.

Organisers say the evenings are designed as a casual "drop in and stay awhile" experience, celebrating good food, music, local drinks and the unique surroundings of the fort.

History enthusiasts will also have the chance to explore parts of Bembridge Fort that are not usually open to the public through a series of Summer Hosted Tours.

Taking place every Wednesday and Saturday from 29th July, the two-hour guided experiences will take visitors deep inside one of the Isle of Wight's most fascinating Victorian Palmerston forts.

Guests will be able to discover hidden areas including the Terreplein, the Dry Ditch, underground tunnel networks and historic military features, while learning about the fort's past and ongoing restoration.

Tours will run at 11am and 2pm, with just 25 spaces available on each session.

Bembridge Fort says the expanded summer programme is part of its mission to bring new life to the heritage site, offering experiences for both Islanders and visitors.

The fort will also welcome back the Hidden Jazz Club on 23rd August, offering an immersive live music experience inside its historic walls.
