Artwork from around the world is being displayed at two Isle of Wight resource centres to mark International Artists Day on October 25.

The Adelaide in Ryde and The Gouldings in Freshwater are hosting seven pieces inspired by the Art on Your Doorstep exhibition in Newport.

The collection includes works by Frida Kahlo and Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai, as well as photographs by Julia Margaret Cameron, who created many of her celebrated images at Dimbola Lodge on the Island.

The exhibition aims to encourage conversation, reflection and the sharing of memories through art.

Natalie Barker, activities and wellbeing coordinator, said:

“It has been great seeing people staying with us enjoying the artwork, learning about how it was created and, when engaging with it, sometimes even learning a bit about themselves.”

Both centres are registered with the Care Quality Commission and run by the Isle of Wight Council.

They support people to develop their independence in a relaxed, social environment and also offer planned short stays.
