£1,000 Donation Helps Freshwater Skatepark Project Move Closer To Construction

Plans for a new skatepark and pump track in Freshwater have moved a step closer to construction, following a £1,000 donation from Rapanui and Teemill.

Freshwater Parish Council says the contribution will support the project at Stroud Recreation Ground.

The council has also submitted the requirements for all 12 planning conditions, including detailed drainage and landscaping plans.

The drainage work is expected to help manage surface water around the recreation ground and could also benefit nearby residents by reducing the risk of water-related problems.

Landscaping will include planting and biodiversity measures, as well as improvements around the new skatepark and pump track.

The project has received support from local residents, businesses and organisations through fundraising, donations, sponsorship and grants.

Once complete, the facility will be available for skateboarders, scooter and BMX riders, roller skaters and other wheeled sports.

Freshwater Parish Council chair Kirsty Gibson thanked Rapanui and Teemill for the latest donation, saying the project was now "on the verge of starting the build".

Rapanui head of brand Tom Marriott said the company was proud to continue supporting the project and believed it would provide young people with a positive and active space.

The parish council says it will provide further updates as the project moves towards construction.
