Plans for new parking charges across parts of the Isle of Wight have been rejected by councillors, following a petition attracting more than 2,300 signatures.

The lack of short stay car parks in Ventnor means there is an “extra expense” for shoppers which is “hitting local businesses”, an Isle of Wight councillor has said.
