Purple Twist For Newport's Annual Aspire Easter Duck Race

This year's Aspire duck race will take place on Saturday March 30 at Shide Trees, Newport, with a 1pm start time.

Organisers have made 1,000 little plastic ducks available for launch from a bridge on the river at Shide.

Depending on water levels, the race normally takes 20 minutes to complete, with ducks available to purchase for £1 — which goes to the charity.

A spokesperson for this year's event said:

"We are grateful this year to Horsler Lifts who have sponsored the £50 first prize, we also have lots of goodies including Easter Eggs donated by Asda.

"Our thanks go also to Thompsons who own the car park and allow us to use it on the day."

The event will include limited edition Aspire purple anniversary ducks, which are available to purchase online.
