St Mary's 'Extremely Busy' As Public Asked To Only Attend If Necessary

St Mary's Hospital is warning the public that it is under pressure, with high numbers of people attending the Emergency Department today (Wednesday).

The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service is also said to be facing high demand today.

Hospital officials say the majority of people going to the hospital do need help and staff are priotirisng those who need medical help urgently, meaning some people are having a long wait before they're seen.

We're told to keep using the NHS 111 service to triage our symptoms and get the right care. We're told we should still call 999 in an emergency.

We're also asked to collect our loved ones from hospital as soon as they are ready to leave.
