Man Arrested Following Suspected Knife Attack In Brighstone

A man in his 50s has been arrested following a suspected knife attack in Brighstone yesterday (Sunday).

Police were called at 5.22pm yesterday following reports of an assault outside the Three Bishops pub in Brighstone.

It was reported that following an altercation in the pub garden between a group of people known to one another, a man was assaulted.

During this incident, he sustained a laceration to his cheek, suspected to have been caused by a Stanley knife.

A 53-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

This morning (Monday), a 45-year-old man was also arrested in connection with this incident, on suspicion of intentional strangulation, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and making threats to kill.

Both men remain in custody at this time.

The ambulance service also attended the scene.
