Labour Commemorates 'Remarkable' D-Day Service

Today (Thursday) communities across the UK and around the world are coming together to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

On the morning of 6 June 1944, tens of thousands British and Allied troops took to the sea and skies to land on the beaches of Normandy.

Their bravery began the campaign of liberation which would end the Second World War.

Emily Brothers, Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for Isle of Wight East said:

“Today commemorates the remarkable service of our veterans and all those who sacrificed their lives in the D-Day landings.

“Labour is deeply proud of our veterans and Armed Forces. Theirs is the ultimate public service.

"D-Day 80 is an opportunity for us all to pay tribute to the D-Day generation and all those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of our country and our values.”
