Coronavirus: Council In 'Regular Communication' With Isle Of Wight Schools

The Isle of Wight Council says it is in 'regular communication' with Island schools, as the number of Coronavirus cases in the UK hits 85 people. 34 new cases have been confirmed today (Wednesday), the country's biggest daily rise so far. The Isle of Wight Council says it is talking schools to prevent the spread from escalating. A spokesperson said: "The Isle of Wight Council is in regular communication with childcare and education settings on the Island, signposting them to the latest government advice and to resources that promote good hand and respiratory hygiene. "Independent schools on the Island receive information directly from the Department of Education." Parents of some schools, including Bembridge Primary School, have been sent letters offering advice. Staff and parents are being told to follow national advice given. The advice is to: Wash hands often - with soap and water or using alcohol sanitiser if handwashing facilities are not available. Cover coughs or sneezes with a tissue, then throwing the tissue in the bin. You can find all the latest advice, here.
