Newport Comic Con Inspired Event Set For Newport Later This Month

An event held in Newport later this month aims to raise funds for YMCA young carers Isle of Wight.

Hero-Con will take place at the Quay Arts between 10am and 5pm on Sunday April 10.

The free entry Comic Con inspired event will raise funds through donations on the day, with a representative of the charity present to share information.

A litany of prizes will also be up for grabs, with goodie bags donated by Heroes comic book store in Newport.

In addition, ethical clothing company Teemill has produced 21 shirts for staff and volunteers, while Beardsalls donated stationery and paper for the Little Heroes Art Corner.

Among the highlights of the day will be a live audience Q and A with comic book legend Todd McFarlane.

Robin Flux, who is hosting the cosplay competition for the event, said:

"It's a perfect place for fans to get together, whether it be comics, gaming, meeting friends or just dressing up.

"There has been such a buzz since Heroes-Con was announced, especially as Todd McFarlane rarely does live online interviews.

"Most importantly we are supporting a local charity with all proceeds from the raffle going to YMCA Young Carers IW"
