Christmas Lamppost Competition Launches For Youngsters In Carisbrooke And Newport

Christmas lamppost

It is never too early for Christmas! That's the view of Newport and Carisbrooke Community Council.

It has launched a ‘Light up a Lamppost’ competition for young people who live in or are school/home educated in Newport and Carisbrooke.

You have to design your own lamppost decoration and if you win it will be made in real life.

There will be three age categories and a winner chosen from each:

  • 4-11 years
  • 12-15 years
  • 16-19 years

The three winners will have their designs made by NDL Electrical Ltd and displayed throughout Newport.

Cllr Geoff Brodie, Chair of the Community Council said:

"This is a wonderful opportunity for local, young people to have their creation lit up in lights on our High Street. I look forward to seeing the entries and hope there will be lots of them."

The entry form can be found on the Newport and Carisbrooke Community Council website at www.newportwight.org.uk and will be sent to local schools.

Completed forms must be delivered to Newport & Carisbrooke Community Council, The Loft, 128 Pyle St, Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 1JW or a scanned copy sent to lucinda.molyneux@newportwight.org.uk

Entries must be submitted by 16 August.
