Scores of people are expected to make their way to watch the Island Car Centre Sandown Sprint Trials this weekend (Saturday and Sunday).
For the first time in more than 60 years, motorsport is back on the streets of the Isle of Wight as competitors battle it out to record the fastest time along Culver Parade.
Taking place today and tomorrow (Sunday), drivers will be taking part in timed runs along a 700m track, with the start line at the junction of Fort Street and the finishing line at the former Grand Hotel.

Event promoter, Tim Addison, said:
“It’s the first event for all of us - the officials and volunteers as well as the competitors.
Every effort has been made to ensure everyone has a good weekend, especially after the two previous cancellations. We hope that we can all enjoy the first Sandown Sprint.”
Here's how to enjoy the weekend's event:
#1 - Car parking
The Sprint is using two of the main car parks in Sandown (Fort Street and Yaverland) which severely limits the parking in the town over the weekend. We recommend you travel to Sandown by public transport, which is well served by Southern Vectis and Island Line. Access to the event is via Fort Street.
#2 - Ticket collection
All tickets can be collected from the booking office. This is located in Fort Street car park next to the Bowling Club. Look out for the signs. You can access the spectator enclosure when the track is closed between each batch of competing cars. Races start from 9am through to 5pm on both days.
#3 - Spectator area
The main spectator area is located on the sea wall which runs along most of the Sprint Track. It can only be accessed via Fort Street and Sandham Gardens. Track marshals will open the crossing between every batch of competing cars. The longest you will wait is approximately 25 minutes, but you can easily reduce this by keeping an eye on the competing cars.
#4 - Competitor paddock
If you continue along the sea wall towards Culver you will be able to access the competitor paddock which is based in the Yaverland car park. This is where all the competing cars are based for the weekend.
#5 - Food and drink
There are a number of places where you can obtain refreshments during the Sprint weekend.
Sandham Gardens will be providing hot and cold options and The Bandstand restaurant is open on both days. The Wildheart Trust Café will be open as will the Yaverland Café at the paddock entrance in Yaverland. The Wildheart Trust will also be operating a bar together with Goddards, so make sure you visit as all proceeds will be going to the Trust. VIP ticket holders will also be able to access Brown's Golf Course using the crossing next to Dinosaur Isle.
