Paul Cattermole, performing on stage in Birmingham, died at the age of 46

Paul Cattermole, the singer with pop band S Club 7 who died last month aged 46, died from natural causes, a coroner has announced.

Dorset Coroner's Service revealed in a statement that there will be no inquest into Cattermole's death as a result.

The group's founding member was found dead at his home in Dorset on 6 April, just weeks after S Club 7announced a major reunion tour to mark their 25th anniversary.

It was confirmed on Monday that the shows would go ahead as planned this autumn, but without member Hannah Spearritt. The band will also perform under the rebranded name S Club.

A spokesperson for Dorset Coroner's Office said:

"We confirm that Mr Cattermole died from natural causes and our investigations have concluded.

"As his death was from natural causes there will be no inquest."

In an Instagram video announcing Spearritt's departure from the tour earlier this week, group member Jon Lee said:

"You've probably noticed that there are only five of us here today and, although Hannah will always be part of S Club 7, she won't be joining us on this tour.

"We wish her all the best for the future."

Spearritt and Cattermole were in a relationship during their time in the group and later rekindled their romance for a brief period in 2015. In a tribute following his death, she described him as her "first true love".

Lee added:

"We have been in a bit of shock, and it has taken a while for us to find the right words to describe how we feel about losing our brother Paul."

Tina Barrett also told followers:

"It is just really sad, it is really, really hard to process it right now."

Following Cattermole's death, the group encouraged fans to donate to the National Youth Music Theatre "in lieu of flowers".

Police previously confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
