Mad Macs — Starbucks Fines Man £100 For Chomping Rival Fast Food In Coffee Shop Carpark

A man received a fine of £100 for chomping his McDonald's takeaway in a Starbucks parking lot earlier this week.

Having been spotted devouring his Big Mac in the rival eatery's car park located at its Fabian Way location in Swansea, Bob Spink was issued a letter telling him he would have to pay up, having lingered in the parking bays for 16 minutes.

He said he was unable to find anywhere to stop to eat the food, so opted to take a load off at the nearby coffee store.

Bob added that he “had not realised these penalties were a thing” and vowed “not to go anywhere near a Starbucks again”.

He explained:

"We had only bought a £12 order from McDonald's and the car park was entirely full so we parked in Starbucks to eat as there was plenty of space.

“It feels like legalised theft, I haven't done anything wrong legally."

Bob, who shared the letter on social media, was told to pay the fine within 14 days to reduce the payment from £100 to £60.

He added:

"I was baffled by it, we have just moved here and it's something you can't ignore as it only gets worse and increases the fee.

“I shared it in the hope of making people aware and (influencing them to) steer clear of the chain.”
