The Wildheart Animal Sanctuary on the Isle of Wight has been named Charity of the Year by local deals platform The Price is Wight.

The partnership comes as the sanctuary celebrates its 50th anniversary and will see customers given the option to donate each time they make a purchase through the website.

To mark the launch, a special raffle is running throughout May, offering the chance to win a behind-the-scenes “Bear Experience” for two, worth £300.

The prize gives winners the opportunity to learn more about rescued bears Benji and Balu, with all proceeds going towards the sanctuary’s work.

The Price is Wight is also headline sponsoring the sanctuary’s annual Run Wild 5K charity fun run, taking place on Sunday 5 July.

The family-friendly event encourages participants to take part in fancy dress while raising funds for conservation and animal care.

The sanctuary says caring for its rescued animals costs around £2 million each year, covering specialist veterinary treatment, tailored diets, enrichment programmes and dedicated care teams.

Founder of The Price is Wight, Karyn Carson, said the partnership was a chance to support a “truly inspiring” local charity during a milestone year.

More details can be found on The Price is Wight website.
