Wightlink has been forced to cancel several car ferry sailings on its Fishbourne–Portsmouth route this morning (Wednesday) due to unexpected crew sickness.
The operator confirmed that six crossings were initially affected — three from Portsmouth Gunwharf and three from Fishbourne — after efforts to arrange cover at short notice were unsuccessful.
The cancelled sailings included the 06:40, 08:40 and 10:40Â departures from Portsmouth, and the 07:40, 09:40 and 11:40Â sailings from Fishbourne.
However, as of 8.13am, Wightlink said it had managed to reinstate the 10:40 sailing from Portsmouth and the 11:40 from Fishbourne, after sourcing very short notice crew cover.
Passengers are advised to check Wightlink’s website or app for the latest travel updates before setting off.
